The Travel Club dates from 1986, with an aim of ‘Promoting group travel for Club members’. We meet socially on the third Friday of the month, mainly for a varied programme of talks on travel related subjects.
In October we have an Autumn Supper and an Annual Lunch is held in March.
A Coffee Morning is held on the third Saturday in August.
In common with other sections our AGM is held in May when the Annual Subscription of £3 is due.
In addition to our indoor meetings we plan day trips to places of interest and hold two Short Breaks of 3 or 4 nights in the Spring and Autumn. These are always popular and it is advisable to come early to the Evening Meetings if you wish to book your place on the coach. If the coach is full we do operate a waiting list system.
We have proposed/suggested day trips for 2017 to Elizabeth Gaskell House and Manchester tour, Anderton Boat Lift, Ellerken House, and Guide Dogs for the Blind. These all have to be finalised but give an indication of the variety we aim for.
The success of the system may be gathered from the membership, which has grown from forty to its present level of over 150. The atmosphere is happy and relaxed and the company congenial.
